The Team

David’s background incorporates 20 years healthcare experience as a Microbiologist, including Director level roles in the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare consulting. In 2000 he set up and led as CEO InteractivHealth Ltd – a web based healthcare company specialising in patient programmes. He went on to successfully help raise the funds to convert this into a Plc in 2003. David joined Tearfund in 2006 to become Marketing & Fundraising Director and led 3 successful corporate fundraising campaigns focused on HIV. In 2009, he became Tearfund’s HIV Programmes Manager, overseeing large HIV programmes in a number of African countries.

Joel founded Chasing Zero in 2010 having been made aware of the alarming effect AIDS is having on many communities across the world. Joel specialised in the study of managing non-profit organisations before completing a Masters in Corporate Entrepreneurship and Innovation and has been involved in pioneering leadership training programmes for young leaders across the UK.

Tim first saw the affects of HIV/AIDS in Oyugis, Kenya during a trip in 2007. He returned the following year to continue to support local projects. Through his roles in marketing to date he’s managed digital projects for countless technology companies. He’s serious about digital creativity, and passionate about breakfast cereals.

Michael leads the board with a wealth of experience at senior levels within the private and third sectors. Having worked for many years at IBM as Director of Operations in Europe and Africa, he then went on to chair the Manchester-based charity, Crossroads. Apart from having a great level of expertise in operations, Michael has also witnessed the devastating effects of AIDS in communities having visited a number of AIDS projects around the world.

Kiera has been leading the Youth and Emerging Generations Team at Tearfund for the past 5 years. She brings a great depth of up-to- date knowledge about the emerging generations and their engagement with charities. Having led this team for a number of years, she has been supporting Chasing Zero since its conception and brings a great amount of vision, passion and energy to the Chasing Zero board.

Matthew is the Head of Research at the Global Wealth Management firm WH Ireland plc. Matthew has many years experience in the investment banking sector at senior levels and brings significant credibility and quality in the area of financial management to the Board of Trustees.

Alex is the Creative Director of Anoo Design, a strategic design consultancy that he founded in May 2008. He was formerly Design Director at Proximity London and prior to that a Senior Designer at Saatchi & Saatchi, London. He has over 10 years of industry experience in design, advertising, branding and promotion. During his career he has picked up several industry accolades including D&AD, Campaign, Cannes, One Show and the Creative Circle Awards. Alex is passionate about utilising his design dexterity in projects that benefit society.

Sarah is heavily involved with engaging the younger generations in a variety of ways. She is the Editor of Youthwork magazine, a national resource for youth workers across the UK and together with her husband Pete leads Onelife; an organisation seeking to raise up transformational leaders all across the UK. In 2009 Sarah was confronted with the damaging effects AIDS is having on Cambodian communities, and since has been keen to make a difference wherever she can.
